Pantone Color Of The Year

I'm so happy the color of they year for 2013 is Emerald Green. I love what a little green can do in a space. I just finished up a client, and we used this color in their home. She loves it and so do I! The end result is stunning!

FYI:These are not pictures of her home. I do plan on sharing with you them soon though!

Reclaimed Wood Flooring

I've been working with a client who's been wanting to replace her old carpet with reclaimed wood flooring. I love the look of reclaimed wood. Their forgiving on scratches and dents and add an old world charm to the look of a new home.

The look of the herringbone wood floor is simply stunning.

Try adding a stencil or a white paint to an old wood floor. It will take it from drab to fab. I wonder if you used old barn wood or pallets if it would turn out well. Has anyone tried? Pin It

Bathroom Design Board

This board is for a client who wanted her bathroom designed. She wanted a neutral palette. I added wallpaper for an added punch to spice up all the grey and white. It has touches of silver and marble. I also love to add some unexpected artwork.

Things I love About Fall

Whew, it has been a long week. Sorry for the lack of posts lately, my life has been kinda of crazy. But now I'm back! =) To start out the week I wanted to share with you my favorite things about fall.

1. Who doesn't love to be bundled up in a pretty coat or sweater. I think I have a little obsession with coats and love the make an outfit out of one.

2. Boots! I can't wait to grab a pair of my skinny jeans and  boots.

3. Scarves are my go to accessory in the fall. Put on a plain t-shirt and dress it up with a scarf. It can make a blah outfit to amazing in no time flat.

4. I love the changing of season, the colors of fall, the crisp autumn air. It truly is one of my favorite times of the year.

What do you love about fall?

Lights Done Right

I definitely think that lighting in a kitchen can make or break the space. A good quality source of task lighting and overhead lighting is essential. Over an island is also the perfect place to add that bit of jewelry to your space. Here' some kitchens that have gotten it right.

Client Bedroom Design

I designed this bedroom for a client, who wanted mostly black and white with just a pop of color. She wanted to keep the majority of the room classic and neutral, so that's exactly what we did. The black bamboo chest is a classic elegant touch the room needed and of course every room needs a little animal print! I can't wait to see it come together! If you need my design services you can contact me at debbiealbrethsen@yahoo.com. I'd love the help design your next space.

Dreamy Creams And Vibrant Whites

White nurseries? WOULD YOU DO IT? I might be a little scared with all the baby vomit and how much a baby or toddler can mess up a room. But I DO love the look, have any of you done a white nursery and what was your experience with it?

Cream and white nursery.

The dark rug is definatley baby friendly. It will hide the sticky messes and all the little footprints. If I were to do a mostly white nursery I would make sure the flooring was dark.

The touches of brass in this nursery add a sense of sophistication.

Exteriors That Pop

I always tend to focus on the interiors of a house, but the exterior is just as important. My best advice is to keep the outside classic and add a fun twist or pop that's easy to change. You can always paint a door to freshen up the look.
Here's some of my favorite exteriors that I have been loving.

Light grey and white mixed with a stained wood door. It's classic enough it will never go out of style.

Grey with light blue doors, this garage is such a great color combo.

Very traditional black and white home. With wall to wall windows to let in lot's of sunlight.

I love the pops of turquoise in this exterior. It adds a beachy feel and is stunning!

The landscape design is equally stunning as the architecture.

I love the calm sophisticated look of this room. It's perfect for a little girl, and will grow with her as she gets older! The white mixed with espresso floors and ceiling is classic. Throw in touches of pink and it's ultra feminine.  The base is neutral so whenever your child changes their taste it would be easy to add a new rug a pillows for a whole new look.
