In the big boy room I designed we wanted the alphabet somewhere in it. We also wanted it to be as inexpensive as possible. So I'll show you how you can create one of your very own!
Supplies Needed:
26 frames (I prefer them all to match, it achieves a more cohesive look)
Scrapbook paper Around 50 sheets
Die cut machine
We got the frames at IKEA for $1.99 each. We also found some similar ones at the dollar store, unfortunately they didn't have enough so we opted to get the ones from IKEA. But it's worth a shot you might get lucky and find some.
Then we used a silhouette machine to cut out all the letters and the frames. We used the same paper for the frame and the letter in each frame. There's so many options you could do to customize it just for your room. You could have all the frames match, you might be able to do the same thing with fabric. Let me know if you try it! It's a great inexpensive way to add a focal point to a room!

Master Bedroom Design Board
This is what I have in mind for my master bedroom. Navy, teal and touches of pink. Yes, my husband is a saint and doesn't care that he might sleep with a little pink. I can't wait till it all comes together. But don't hold your breath it might be a while.

Lovely Things To Do With Ribbon!
Since I've been on the ribbon kick, and I've given you some ribbon sources. You might be wondering what you can do with some of that ribbon. Here's some ideas to spark your creativity.
Tailored Roman Shade a simple, classic look.
Greek key trim on a bamboo roller shade. From Green Street blog.
Make a fabulous ribbon garland. Perfect for the backdrop to any photo or party. By Creature Comforts.
Use ribbon to add that special touch to any table setting. Or as an added embellishment to a runner.
Add ribbon to a pillow and create your own custom design.
What about adding it to a plain headboard? I would love to try this one day.
Have you done any projects with ribbon lately? I would love to see!

Adding Ribbon To Curtains
In the big boy room I designed we had a tiny budget. There was no way that custom made drapes were in the cards for us. So we had to find a way to dress up some inexpensive pre-made curtains.
Tomorrow I'll share with you some of my favorite sources for ribbon. Perfect for dressing up any shade or curtain.
Supplies Needed:
Heat and Bond
Curtains
Iron
Scissors
Ribbon
Start with washing your curtains, and if possible your ribbon too. Now start ironing all the wrinkles out of your curtains.
Next grab some heat and bond, I started out with 2 -1/4" strips but then used 2 -1/2" strips it was much easier. Peel the paper of the back and roll it out onto the ribbon. Then iron as you go down.
Now peel off the back of the Heat and Bond. Then flip it over onto the curtain. Just place it where you want it to go.
My curtains had about a 1" seam at the edge. So I just followed my ribbon straight down that line.
For the corners I did two things. When I came to the end of the roll of ribbon I cut it off, then folded it at an angle and tuck it in like shown.
Tuck it under and then apply another strip of heat and bond and iron to make it stick.
If I wasn't at the end of the roll and wanted to continue, then I would fold it over like shown and iron. This way you can avoid cutting the ribbon and starting over.
Your going to want to bring the ribbon past where you want to actually place it. Because your going to be folding it up.
Grab another little strip of heat and bond.
Pull off the backing and fold up the bottom piece and iron. You'll have a perfect little corner.

Farm Day
I LOVE spring, it's so warm out, the flowers are blooming, and I love taking long walks with my little girl. Over the weekend I took her to farm day. A neighbor has a farm full of baby animals, she lets all the kids in the neighborhood come over to play. Brynlee loved it.
She loved chasing after the goats. I kept on telling her
to be soft, but she would get so excited and squeal with delight and try to grab them.
It was
so fun, we got to play with baby chicks, baby bunnies, and horses. I
can't wait for next year. |
What's your favorite thing about spring?

Pom Poms How To
Pom Poms are such a fun, easy way to add some charm to a room. The best part is they're really easy to make! I'll show you how!
We used a 2.5" plastic lid to trace out all the circles. We first tried to use a circle cutter but it was terrible and was ripping the fabric everywhere. Epic fail, so we found the best way was to use good old scissors.
This is the most time consuming part. Just get yourself a comfy spot on the couch, and start cutting out all you circles. We did a couple hundred, yes it was a ton! The yardage we used was: 5 yards for the big one. 4 yards for the medium size one. 3 yards for the small one.
Next, pinch the center of the circle and then glue the outside bottom as shown. Be careful not to burn yourself! The glue can get really hot!
Then stick it on your paper lanterns. We placed them about an inch apart, and just followed along the lines of the lantern so it was straight. Try to place the circles in the grove part of the lantern.
We found these at hobby lobby on sale. It was a three pack that came in three different sizes. Just keep going in rows one after another, till it's completely filled!
