Colored Sofas

Colored sofas have been everywhere lately. Even though I usually always prefer a neutral sofa because it grows with you and goes with everything. Seeing some of these sofa's makes me want to design a room around them. How fun are these? So would you do one of the statement makers in your home?

Navy blue is always fantastic color choice.

This peachy pink sofa is divine! How pretty is this but it might not be husband approved.

Light blue with white walls

How cute is this pretty pink sofa! Cutest sofa ever.

A teal sofa makes a bold statement in this room. If your looking for a big impact she's your gal.

You also might of noticed I added a shop this room under some of the pictures. I thought it would be nice if you could find some items that are in the room. That way if you love something in a room you can grab some of the fun pieces.

Design Dilemma: How to style the area behind your TV

I thought it would be fun to do a new series, where I answer some of your design dilemma questions. I love all of my readers and am so thankful to anyone who reads this lil' blog of mine. So let me hear it, what's your biggest design dilemma? Do you have a funky spot in your house that you don't know what do put there? Do you have either small or big space, weird windows, ugly sofa, or need help knowing how to mix patterns.
Well shoot me an email your biggest design problem. I'll answer some in a blog post if you're one of the lucky ones!

I got a lot of emails from people not knowing what to do behind their TV stands. It's a tricky spot, you're trying to hide that ugly TV but also want it easily visible for viewing. The best way is to add interest around the TV and draw your eye to the areas around the TV.

So here's some ideas for you.

Large scale artwork adds visual interest.

Hanging the TV on a black wall helps blend the TV into the background. Adding a large scale piece of abstract art with some fun accessories helps draw your eye to that area instead of the TV.

Lamps flanking the TV with two large scale pieces of artwork help style up this console table.

This gallery wall by Emily Clark is done beautifully. A gallery wall behind the TV is a great way to add more visual interest and help blend in the TV.

Another gallery wall option by Jenny from the the little green notebook. It's stunning!

Loving the asymmetrical balance of this styling.

What other design dilemmas are you having?

Summer Adventure

I love summer! Bryn wants to play outside all day everyday! She digs in the dirt, runs through the sprinklers, and picks all the tomatoes of our plant and eats them. By the end of the day we've gone through about 5 outfits. She sure likes to get messy. That's what are days usually consist of.

What do you do during the summer, any fun adventures you have planned?

Upholstered Headboard Goodness.

Upholstered headboards are one of my favorite additions in a bedroom. I love that they add elegance to any room. There is so many styles and fabrics to chose from to fit your personality! The best part is if you get sick of it there fairly easy to re-upholster. I also love that you could throw over a cool textile to create a whole new look and add another layer. How beautiful is this patterned headboard? It's calming yet creates such a focal point in the room.

I love the dramatic look of this navy tufted headboard. It's very moody and glam.

A leather tufted headboard adds a bit of masculine energy to the room. Perfect for a husband who doesn't want things to feminine.

This headboard is layered with an orange throw to add another dimension to the space.

Add a layer of trim underneath the nail heads for a unique look.

BLACK + WHITE + PINK

I see this little vignette for an entryway. The table is front and center, and topped with pink peonies. (nothing could be better then pink peonies) The gold lantern light is hung above. As you can tell this is slowly becoming one of my favorite color combos.

4th of July Recap

The 4th of July was filled with so much fun. On Monday my neighborhood had a carnival, children's parade and a firework show. Bryn loved all the carnival games and when the fireworks went off she loved them. It was so much fun now that Bryn is old enough to actually enjoy them. On the 4th we went to the parade in the morning and saw some city fireworks at night. I love the 4th of July! It was filled with barbequing, family and fun.

How was your fourth? Did you do anything fun?

Front Entry Reveal + Tile Progress

My front door was looking a little drab. The paint was chipping and it just needed a dose of happiness.  So I whipped out the paint Benjamin Moore in Wythe Blue, perfect for summer. Then added a striped rug and some potted plants. The best part is I already had everything lying around. It's still not my ideal entry but it's definitely better then what is was!

The herringbone tile in the entry is coming along well. Bryn is the best little helper she loved helping dad take out all the spacers. Hopefully by next week it will be done!

Guest Post: Mari From Design Shuffle

Hello, everyone! It's Mari here from Design Shuffle, a fabulous online community where interior designers from around the world can show their work and design enthusiasts can find interior design inspiration and decorating ideas. As part of my job, I often have the pleasure of visiting lovely blogs like Visual Eye Candy (Perfect name!) to share some of the great spaces I've discovered. Today's guest post is about colorful kitchens. For your design inspiration, we've pulled together several beautiful spaces filled with color and two that use pops of color to great advantage. Please enjoy! Colorful Kitchens
Red may not be for everyone, but this gorgeous kitchen (and the two that follow) just might cause a few of us to change our minds. Wouldn't this be the perfect spot to cook and serve a romantic dinner for two in the warm glow of a golden chandelier?
Colorful Kitchens
A contemporary kitchen uses red sparingly in wall art to make a big impact against the black wall. The rope light along the floor and the gold lined black pendant like work beautifully in this space. Colorful Kitchens
Here is one more kitchen where red plays off black to create stunning impact. Red walls in the hallway beyond makes red and white upholstery, red tulips and red tabletop accessories pop here at the breakfast bar.

Colorful Kitchens
And, now we head to the seashore for a beach house kitchen the uses turquoise and green to create an elegant cooking environment. I love the contrast in cabinetry styles and finishes. Colorful Kitchens
This gorgeous space in deep blue and stainless steel has just become one of my favorite kitchen designs. Who knew what a stunning pair this brilliant jewel tone and silvery metallic would make? Colorful Kitchens
Color and pattern reign in this contemporary kitchen. What a happy space it is—perfect for family gatherings where many cooks have room to show off their culinary skills. Colorful Kitchens
Here is one of those kitchens that use pops of color to wonderful advantage. Living greenery and a gold framed mirror are all that this space needs to bring it to life. This is one of my favorites. Colorful Kitchens
If you're looking for a colorful kitchen with a whimsical side, you'll want to add this one to your interior design ideas file. The colors are wonderful and the quirky metal stair rail seems to add rhythm and movement to the entire space.

Projects, Projects, Projects.

I had a lot of projects going on this weekend. We started tiling the floor because the basement flooded. I then painted my front door the most perfect shade of blue. Whythe blue from Benjamin Moore. Pics to come!!!

We decided on doing a marble look a like on the floor in a herringbone pattern it's looking amazing! Even though I love real marble my husband HATES working with it. Because when he cuts it, it just falls apart. So we opted to go faux. I'll be doing a tutorial on how to tile a herringbone floor yourself. It will save you so much money!

Happy Monday! I hope you have a fun filled fourth of July week!
