High End Vs. Low End

Today, let's play a little guessing game! I thought it would be fun to have you write in the comments which pieces you think are the high end and which are the budget friendly version. The difference in prices are astonishing! It will be fun to play, and tomorrow I'll post the results with all the sources. Let's see if someone can get them all right!
One side is high end the other side is low end.

Styling A Room

Styling is so important in a room. It can make or break the overall feel and design. It's that final finishing touch, the last bit of sparkle to make your room come to life. Here's some of my favorite examples of great styling.

I love the feeling in this neutral color palette. The branches add visual interest.

Butterfly prints mixed with flowers and gorgeous vases. I love this little vignette.

Black and white graphic paper make a statement in a Lucite tray paired with books.

My toddler would knock everything off this table in a jiffy and have tons of fun while doing it. But if your a household with no little ones I love the styling on this coffee table.

Jade and coral are so pretty paired together in this bookcase. I love how the books are on their side and they added frames in front of the books.

Why not display you jewelry that you wear everyday. It adorns you, why not make it adorn your room too!

Designer Spotlight: Kerrisdale Design Inc

I found the wonderful Karla from Kerisdale Design Inc. on Pinterest. I had to stop by her portfolio and I was so impressed, I just had to feature her. She has a way of making a neutral, classic space come alive, and feel far from boring. I love her use of textiles, textures, and pattern to create a truly unique one of a kind space. Here's some of her amazing rooms that make me a little weak in the knees.

Isn't her designs stunning? You have to check out her blog here. Thanks Karla for stopping by, it was great to have you!

Color Crush: Lavender

I hope everyone is having a great week! I'm loving the weather and soaking up every second I can outside.
I saw this fabric and just about died. Isn't it amazing? The lavender and orange together are exquisite. I had to gather some other lavender items I'm currently loving.

Well the rug is more purple but I still count it.

Outfit to Room: Ikat + Stripes

I always love finding new ways to find inspiration for design. Why not let your closet do it for you? My theory is, if you already have it, love it, and wear it, you'll probably swoon over it in you interiors as well. So take a peek into your closet and see what you have, it just might inspire your next design. Here's an outfit, made into a room. This is a wonderful way to get inspired:
Stripes and Ikat

A L C pullover sweater
£229 - farfetch.com

Vince 5 pocket jeans
235 CAD - eluxe.ca

Miss KG espadrille shoes
£55 - republic.co.uk

Rafe New York leather tote bag
$275 - bloomingdales.com

So go run to your closet and search through what your drawn to. Is it neutrals, a favorite color or animal print? Let that be a starting point to design your room around.

DIY Butterfly Wall Art

This is one of the simplest projects ever.
All you need is:
Card stock
A Silhouette Machine or you could use a Butterfly punch

We cut about 150 butterflies in assorted sizes using the silhouette machine.
We used this You Tube video on how to draw the perfect oval.
We then cut out a circle to start putting our butterflies around to give us a starting point. We used stick tack to attach all the butterflies to the wall.
Just keep placing your butterflies all around spreading them out to wherever you think they look good. Sometimes you have to rearrange them.
This project really is simple and it makes an inexpensive impact in a room. They even look better in person!

The Gentleman's Quarters

I had a wonderful e-design client come to me to design her soon to be husbands "man cave". She wanted something they both could enjoy but that he would LOVE. Isn't she so sweet to think of her fiance and create a spot in their home together? So this is what we came up with cozy, and masculine. He even has a bar and a dart board wall. I can't wait to see the final outcome!

Painted Faux Molding

I've been seeing a trend lately of painting faux molding instead of using real molding. Its such a great inexpensive way to add interest and detail to a room or piece. I think I'm going to try this in my new office.

Isn't adding a touch of gold such nice touch to glam up any room?

What about you have you done this in your home?
